Trip ideas: similar weather, quieter months

TL;DR

Start here to find a quieter trip. The finder lists places with weather like a city you choose, where that month was less crowded in 2025, as a share of their year. Below it: 65 quieter-alternative lists for busy months, 33 city pairs, 37 region pairs and our month and ranking tools.

Similar weather, but quieter

Pick a city you like and a month. We list places whose weather that month is close to it and where that month took a smaller share of the 2025 visits than it did where you started.

Loading the finder…

The rule: an average high within 2 °C and rainy days within 3 of your city's in that month, in a different country (or prefecture in Japan), and that month took a smaller share of its 2025 nights than that month did of your city's country or prefecture's. Matches stay in the same part of the world: Europe with Europe, Japan with Japan. Weather: 1991–2020 averages at each city's weather station (World Meteorological Organization normals in Europe, Japan Meteorological Agency in Japan); a rainy day has at least 1 mm of rain.
